Celebrating all our club members recent achievements
The Wellesley 10km Trail Run is a fantastic, flat trail race which takes place annually in the Autumn.
This race is organised jointly between the very experienced race team at Blackwater Valley runners and the Greater Rushmoor Nepali Community group.
17 of our club runners took to the trail this year and with weather conditions perfect for running, we were joined by runners from all over the south of the UK with a full capacity 630 in attendance.
Farnham Pilgrims Half Marathon - Team FTRC tackled the Farnham Pilgrims Half Marathon with spirit and grit. Despite the challenges, we embraced the race and made it a day to remember!
Why you should run an Ultra part 2 - the pains and blisters subside but the shared memories, sense of achievement and a nice looking medal will last a lifetime.
How team FTRC totally rocked a corker of a challenge
The Woodland Woggle is billed as one of the prettiest 10ks in England, with bluebells, lovely and varied scenery and magnificent views. Organised by the fantastic Blackwater Valley Running Club, it takes place on the Hampton Estate, with picturesque meadows and contented cattle, Puttenham Common heathland, the varied mosaic of the regenerative farm, and shady woodlands. It’s also a very friendly event, from the scouts selling homemade cakes and bacon rolls, through the host of Blackwater Valley marshalls and jokey signs encouraging you around the course, to the Estate owners who cheer everyone past the house.
After weeks of training, the magnificent 7 delivered in style this weekend.
With Stuart running in the Vienna marathon and Ian, Owen, Susan, Davide, Sean and Harvey running in the London marathon it was a super busy weekend for club runners.
Sounds nuts doesn’t it? Let me convince you…
An Ultra Marathon is basically any distance over a Marathon, but your starting Ultra is 50km (that’s about 31 miles). So why would you want to run even further than a Marathon? Because it’s a completely different event.

I am sure that there are corny expressions about speed/pace not mattering so long as you complete the distance or enjoy the journey. Was it Confucius or some cheesy motivational quote I saw on Pinterest? Either way try telling this to the 11 members of the Farnham Town Running Club who achieved a PB at the Fleet Half Marathon. Quite an achievement bearing in mind that this number is almost half of the 23 members who started the race.
Running is a great leveller. It's a place where everyone faces their own physical and mental challenges and where anyone can thrive.
I took part in the Balwin Sport Jeppe 10km race with my older brother, Adam. I'm glad I chose the 10k race over the half marathon because I totally underestimated running at 5,700ft above sea level and the African heat – I also wasn’t quite ready for a half!
