Welfare Wednesday
Welcome to Octobers edition of welfare Wednesday, this month we will be focusing on Women’s health, covering a range of topics.
The first topic on women’s health is the most common type of cancer in women in the UK - Breast cancer.
Breast cancer is when abnormal cells in the breast begin to grow and divide in an uncontrolled way and eventually form a growth. Each year around 55,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer.
Signs and symptoms
🔸 A lump or swelling in your breast, chest or armpit
🔸 A change in the skin of your breast, such as a dimpling or redness
🔸 A change in size or shape of 1 or both breasts
🔸 Nipple discharge
🔸 A change in shape or look of your nipple
🔸 Pain in your breast or armpit that does not go away
It is so important to check your breasts regularly, every month. Work out what normal means for you, this way you will know quickly if something doesn’t feel right.
