Welfare Wednesday
For our last week on heart health we are taking a look at blood pressure readings. It is important to check your blood pressure regularly to ensure you are not at risk of high blood pressure.
Having high blood pressure can lead to serious health problems as it puts more strain on your blood vessels, heart and other organs. However, lifestyle changes can help you to stay healthy.
High blood pressure can often go unnoticed as it doesn’t usually cause many symptoms, therefore many people have it without realising.
During your test a band will be inflated around your upper arm and this measures the pressure in your blood vessels, the screen will then produce two readings. Take a look at the NHS website to see what the two different readings mean.
Not sure how to take a reading❓
Pop into your GP practice or local pharmacy and either follow the instructions on the machine or ask a professional for guidance!
If you are worried, book into for your free health check with your GP or book in to see them with your up to date blood pressure readings.
Stay healthy!
