Welfare Wednesday
This week we will be having a look at how you can check the health of your heart and this begins with a health check at your local GP…
This is a free check up which lasts 20-30 minutes and includes a range of tests to determine your risk of certain health problems, including heart disease. Once the results have come back they will be able to advise you on next steps to ensure a healthy lifestyle and to help you reduce your risk. If you are aged 40 or over you should have been Invited by your GP, no matter how healthy you feel it is really important you have regular health checks to help your body stay healthy.
If you are under the age of 40 it is also important to keep an eye on your heart health and you can do this by checking your blood pressure, GP practices usually have a free blood pressure machine available to use. if you have any questions or you are worried always book an appointment with your GP.
Don’t forget to contact your GP to book in for your free health check!
If you would like any more information on heart health visit the British heart foundation website - you can also use a tool to calculate your heart age here.
Stay healthy!
