All Runners are Equal
Running is a great leveller. It's a place where everyone faces their own physical and mental challenges and where anyone can thrive.
I took part in the Balwin Sport Jeppe 10km race with my older brother, Adam. I'm glad I chose the 10k race over the half marathon because I totally underestimated running at 5,700ft above sea level and the African heat – I also wasn’t quite ready for a half!
Welfare Wednesday
This week we are looking at the symptoms of stress. Lots of people think stress is rushing around trying to get things done or having loads on that to do list but it can come in all shapes and sizes and present itself in different ways.
Farnham Town Running Club celebrates the successes of 2023!
Introduced by the Farnham Town Crier, Michael Stephens, on Friday 1st March, the members of Farnham Town Running Club (FTRC) consolidated their incredible year with their 2nd ever annual awards evening! The club, initially founded in 2020, has gone from strength to strength providing an inclusive space for people of all abilities to get involved, challenge themselves, and make some new friends along the way. The club’s success has already been recognised in the community as they were named Farnham Sport Club of the Year 2023 back in January; so clearly, they had a lot to celebrate!

Welcome to the final edition of stretching 🤸🏼♂️
With it being Eating Disorder awareness week, we thought it would be a good time to shed some light on how foods can benefit your muscles, bones and joints.
London Winter 10k - Sunday 25th February 2024
Just a month after the success of many of our runners at Farnborough half, which feels like yesterday, here we were again with yet another fun filled event with plenty of runners in attendance. With not much change in weather temperatures being zero degrees and starting the day at 6am with plenty of comments “it’s soooo soooo cold” we had limited choice of warm clothing due to the very small race bag! We were soon in the underground having to get the body prepared for what’s to come! Despite this shivering feeling, it was soon warmed up by the positive crowd boosting the energy to complete the 6.2 miles task ahead.
Club Night
The clouds parted and over 60 runners arrived for another very busy club night.
Brian and Andy from Destination RUN Coaching joined us to give some top tips on dynamic stretching and then 8 groups disappeared on varied routes around Farnham.

Welcome to the 3rd edition of stretching
We’ve all be guilty of forgetting to stretch after a run, that warm shower or yummy post workout meal is far more tempting however…
Did you know?
Deciding to ditch the stretching after a run can hinder your recovery and increase your risk of injury. Stretching after a run helps to reduce soreness and gets rid of waste products, such as lactic acid which could impact your next run
Club Night
A busy valentines run last night for the club with many members sharing the love around the Farnham.
Thank you to all those loved ones that allowed members to join us last night and well done to all our Couch to 5k group who are getting into their program now and making great progress.
Only 34 more days till Spring is with us. Yeah

Welcome to the 2nd edition of stretching!
Did you know?
Stretching helps to lengthen any tight muscles and this helps to reduce injuries. Stretching before a run increases your range of motion and helps to improve your overall performance.

FTRC Win “Farnham Club of the Year”
We are delighted to share that Farnham Town Running Club were the winners of the category ‘Farnham Club of the Year 2023’. This is a fantastic achievement for everyone associated with the club, having beaten some sports clubs that have achieved truly fantastic things last year.
Welcome to the 5th edition of all things sleep!
When we sleep there are two main phases that we alternate between throughout the night. REM (Rapid eye movement) and NREM (non-rapid eye movement). REM occurs 90 minutes after falling asleep and takes up 25% of your volume of sleep. During this time the brain is active and it helps provide energy to the body. The other 75% is taken up by NREM. This is the deepest and most restorative sleep - the blood supply to your muscles increase and tissue repair/growth occurs.
