Club Updates
Woodland Woggle - 12th May 2024
The Woodland Woggle is billed as one of the prettiest 10ks in England, with bluebells, lovely and varied scenery and magnificent views. Organised by the fantastic Blackwater Valley Running Club, it takes place on the Hampton Estate, with picturesque meadows and contented cattle, Puttenham Common heathland, the varied mosaic of the regenerative farm, and shady woodlands. It’s also a very friendly event, from the scouts selling homemade cakes and bacon rolls, through the host of Blackwater Valley marshalls and jokey signs encouraging you around the course, to the Estate owners who cheer everyone past the house.

What is body image?🧍♀️🧍♂️
Body image is how we think and feel about ourselves physically and how we believe others see us. There are so many ways we can think about our body and the way we look. There might be some days when you like your body/parts of your body and other times when you struggle with how you look.
Welfare Wednesday
Welcome to May 🌻 This month we are focusing on the different types of eating disorders and body image…
Eating disorders are often invisible. They are mental illnesses, they don’t look a certain way and you do not have to be underweight to have an eating disorder.
Medal Monday - Marathon Special
After weeks of training, the magnificent 7 delivered in style this weekend.
With Stuart running in the Vienna marathon and Ian, Owen, Susan, Davide, Sean and Harvey running in the London marathon it was a super busy weekend for club runners.

On Saturday 30th March it was World Bipolar day…
Everyone experiences changes in their mood, but bipolar disorder can cause these changes to feel distressing and it has a big impact on your life.
“I could never run a Marathon”…why you should consider an Ultra Marathon instead…
Sounds nuts doesn’t it? Let me convince you…
An Ultra Marathon is basically any distance over a Marathon, but your starting Ultra is 50km (that’s about 31 miles). So why would you want to run even further than a Marathon? Because it’s a completely different event.
Fleet Half Marathon - 24th March 2024
This race report has been kindly sponsored by Howden Insurance.
I am sure that there are corny expressions about speed/pace not mattering so long as you complete the distance or enjoy the journey. Was it Confucius or some cheesy motivational quote I saw on Pinterest? Either way try telling this to the 11 members of the Farnham Town Running Club who achieved a PB at the Fleet Half Marathon. Quite an achievement bearing in mind that this number is almost half of the 23 members who started the race.
All Runners are Equal
Running is a great leveller. It's a place where everyone faces their own physical and mental challenges and where anyone can thrive.
I took part in the Balwin Sport Jeppe 10km race with my older brother, Adam. I'm glad I chose the 10k race over the half marathon because I totally underestimated running at 5,700ft above sea level and the African heat – I also wasn’t quite ready for a half!
Welfare Wednesday
This week we are looking at the symptoms of stress. Lots of people think stress is rushing around trying to get things done or having loads on that to do list but it can come in all shapes and sizes and present itself in different ways.
Farnham Town Running Club celebrates the successes of 2023!
Introduced by the Farnham Town Crier, Michael Stephens, on Friday 1st March, the members of Farnham Town Running Club (FTRC) consolidated their incredible year with their 2nd ever annual awards evening! The club, initially founded in 2020, has gone from strength to strength providing an inclusive space for people of all abilities to get involved, challenge themselves, and make some new friends along the way. The club’s success has already been recognised in the community as they were named Farnham Sport Club of the Year 2023 back in January; so clearly, they had a lot to celebrate!
Welfare Wednesday!
Welcome to the final edition of stretching 🤸🏼♂️
With it being Eating Disorder awareness week, we thought it would be a good time to shed some light on how foods can benefit your muscles, bones and joints.
London Winter 10k - Sunday 25th February 2024
Just a month after the success of many of our runners at Farnborough half, which feels like yesterday, here we were again with yet another fun filled event with plenty of runners in attendance. With not much change in weather temperatures being zero degrees and starting the day at 6am with plenty of comments “it’s soooo soooo cold” we had limited choice of warm clothing due to the very small race bag! We were soon in the underground having to get the body prepared for what’s to come! Despite this shivering feeling, it was soon warmed up by the positive crowd boosting the energy to complete the 6.2 miles task ahead.
